Education Advantage Foundation (EAF) and the Shaun Livingston Foundation (SLF) announced today that they are joining together to host the first annual celebrity Get-A-Cue doubles Pool tournament on Thursday, September 18th, at Yankee Doodles in Santa Monica, California. All proceeds from the event benefit inner city children through bolstering the education, health and wellness programs provided by each foundation. In addition, the proceeds will go to life-enrichment trips and college scholarships.
Get-A-Cue is a celebrity doubles pool tournament featuring live entertainment, silent auction, trick-shots demonstration, food, drinks and much more. Participants will have the opportunity to go head-to-head with celebrities and community members in a friendly competition for the Grand Prize of a luxury vacation package.
“We have a very ambitious vision for the foundation and teaming up with EAF was a natural fit for us,”
said Shaun Livingston, NBA point guard and Founder of Shaun Livingston Foundation. “We chose this partnership based on EAF’s high-quality programs and their vision for helping children in the community succeed.”
“Shaun is an undeniably inspirational athlete and we are thrilled to begin what we hope becomes a fruitful and long-term relationship,”
said Learning Links Centers/Education Advantage Foundation co-founder Joe Killinger. “We share similar goals and our joint mission for this tournament is to help children with a life-enriching event that will help fund both EAF and SLF programs they’ve come to rely upon.”
ABOUT EDUCATION ADVANTAGE FOUNDATION
Education Advantage Foundation’s (EAF) mission is to promote higher education by providing free after-school tutoring, mentoring and scholarships for inner-city children currently in the Los Angeles and Dallas metropolitan areas. EAF is a non-profit that works with Learning Links Centers (LLC), a socially responsible investment/property management company, to enhance the learning environments for students and families in low to moderate-income neighborhoods.
EAF specially renovates one unit in each apartment building to serve as a study suite called “The Resource Center.”
Resource Centers offer residents a safe haven from drugs, crime and gangs and provide a positive alternative to excessive television and video game use and other distractions. Each center is supplied with a mini library and reference materials such as educational books, earth and science related materials, arts and craft materials as well as computers with supervised Internet access, and teaching tools for the students and tutors within each building.
